Valentine's Day Swap

When I saw on Erin's blog that she was co-hosting a Valentine's Day swap with Megan, I just had to join in!

I was paired with Kristin over at The Ackerman Three. Head over there and see what I got her!

The lovely Amy at Mrs. Mommy had my name, and didn't disappoint!
First of all, when I opened the box - I saw this adorableness!
Everything was packaged in this sweet gift bag!

Yummy candies, because she did her research and learned that I don't like chocolate (I know, how strange am i?)

This gorgeous initial mug - that I'm using at work right now!

Gym Etiquette

In the 6-8 months that I was away from my gym, nursing my back and recovering from surgery, apparently all of the members got lobotomies. I kid, but seriously? What is with the lack of gym etiquette? Most of these things should be common sense, y'all.

If there is a whole row of open machines, DO NOT use the one immediately aside of another person.

Wear deodorant. Nobody wants to smell your BO.

Wipe your machines ... especially if you've been dripping sweat and BO all over them. (confirmed on twitter by Amanda).

Don't talk to people unless you need to ask them to move themselves or an item from equipment. Most people are there to work out and you are interrupting them by talking to them. (confirmed on twitter by Kathryn)

Don't put your stuff on other machines, unless the machines do not work.

If someone catches you staring at them while they work out, LOOK AWAY and stop staring. It's just rude.

Stalking someone (a.k.a. picking a machine near them, then moving to follow them when they change equipment) is creepy and wrong.

Driving around the parking lot and waiting for a close parking space is only acceptable when it is raining or snowing. Otherwise, you are there to work out. Take your long walk as a warmup and stop being lazy.

Hang up your phone. Wear earbuds. Don't sing. Don't talk loudly to your neighbor. Use common sense ... if you don't want to hear what someone else is doing, chances are they don't want to hear what you're doing.

Cover up. You should be working out, it is not a runway show. Keep your boobies inside your shirt. It can't be comfortable to run with them bouncing all up in your face. You're going to get a black eye. If you are wearing the same top as Billy Blanks, cover it up!

Speaking of covering up, don't walk around the locker room nekkid. You may be comfortable with your birthday suit, but chances are that you're making everyone else around you really uncomfortable.

Now, I know ALL of you have at least one piece of gym etiquette or a story that I need to hear ... so spill!

Christmas gifts I don't know how I lived without ...

Long title for this post, true, but very accurate. Below are two things that I got as Christmas gifts and I honestly have no idea how I lived without them.

1) OXO Pop canisters - My mom got me a set of these to store my baking essentials (sugar, flour, etc) because the containers I WAS using made a huge mess. So much of a mess that the one day my mom was over and I was mixing cookie dough and I got flour ALL OVER my kitchen because the lid to the container snapped back while I was measuring, and my measuring cup of flour sprayed the kitchen. Good times.

These work wonderfully for my flours and sugar. So well, in fact, that I have now purchased additional containers for spaghetti and lasagne noodles, rice, corn meal, brown sugar, and I am planning to buy more.

My advice to find a good price? Check out TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Home Goods, etc. Also, sometimes Amazon has good deals.
2) Rachael Ray Oven Lovin' Bake ware - I am a self-admitted Rachael Ray fan. I can't help it, I do really like her. I have her cookware (hard anodized), which I love, as well as many of her kitchen tools. I was hesitant initially about her bake ware because she doesn't bake herself. However, this is the best non-stick bake ware that I have ever used. Y'all - I baked CHEESE onto it and it slid right off. Like those infomercials for the green frying pans. I am now planning to replace all of my baking pans with Rachael Ray ones.

I also use the same shopping tricks to shop for these. If you are lucky and your store has it, you can easily save 50%.

What else am I missing? Do you know of something that once I try it, I won't know how I lived without it?
